Centre for Forensic Science and Medicine

'Forensic medicine and science' are a heterogeneous set of disciplines that have the common goal of providing evidence to assist in the administration of justice.  The forensic disciplines are a product of the intersection of the traditional branches of science and medicine and the law.

In the last ten years, there has been an explosion of theoretical and applied research which has led to many groundbreaking new developments in the forensic arena.

The Centre for Forensic Science and Medicine (CFSM) at the University of Toronto was approved by the Faculty of Medicine Council on June 23, 2008 as a type C extra-departmental unit (EDU).

The purpose of the Centre will be to unify the forensic community, coordinate knowledge-based initiatives, and create an environment that fosters interdisciplinary research.
